A DAY AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE

It has been a great experience in returning to the classroom – this time as a speaker, and not a student.  I was invited to speak to Dr. Roberts’ class at Columbia College on the perils of entrepreneurship and the benefits of utilizing programs that SCORE offers to budding entrepreneurs and those looking to expand an already successful business.  Some of the questions these young learners asked pertained to creating the right business entity, insurance requirements, and applying for a loan.  I was asked questions a little close to home; what is it like working in a family business, what have the challenges I’ve faced.  Somewhat of an irony, is that I’ve had the chance to learn more about what students are concerned with then they probably learned from me.  One thing is for sure, next time, I will bring a glass of milk to Dr. Roberts’ class – sweets are common in his classrooms.
